Giving with Gusto!

j0438470 (2)I’m always inspired by stories of transformation–of people making choices that dramatically change their destiny.  This morning, NBC’s Today featured a woman who’s learned the power of giving and has experienced amazing shifts in her health and well-being.

Cami Walker was dealing with the complications of multiple sclerois (MS) and during one sleepless night she picked up  her journal and re-read a note from a telephone session with her spiritual advisor two months before, which suggested she give something away for 29 days.

The next morning she heeded that call to action and called up a friend also afflicted with MS giving the gift of support. She began feeling better with each day focusing her energy on giving. New possibilities swirled within her. “What space would it create in my life for new and unexpected things to occur? What shifts would I see in my thinking and behavior as a result? What impact would my gifts have on others?”

Through her daily practice of giving she felt happier, healthier, more creative, more connected, more alive and by Day 29 she was astounded by the magical and miraculous shifts in her energy for life. This transformation inspired her to write,  29 Days, along with founding the  29Days.org  to inspire worldwide giving.

Her life changed as she chose to shift her focus to the power of the universal law of giving and receiving. Such an extraordinary simple daily practice of how altruism can dramatically alter your outlook on the world and your own life experience.

There are magic and miracles in the act of giving, of focusing your energy to give, which isn’t necessarily material. It might be sharing a smile, showing appreciation, valuing someone’s help, uplifting a heavy heart,, volunteering to be of service, extending joy and the countless ways giving touches the heart.  There is no such thing as a small act of giving. You may not know its power but it works wonders. Give with gusto! Visit www.29gifts.org.
